Ignition Repair & Replacement
We repair and replace broken ignition systems in Hillsborough and Pasco Counties.
It’s never a good time when your car doesn't start. Often, vehicle owners think their battery is the problem. The problem may actually be due to a faulty ignition. To determine if your car, truck or SUV needs its ignition repaired or replaced, further evaluation is needed. Start by rotating your key to different positions. Most commonly, there are four positions:
The most basic sign that there is an ignition problem is when you rotate your key to the “on” position and the lights on the dashboard fail to illuminate. This is one of the first signs of a problem, and also why people confuse ignition problems with battery issues.
When you “start” your car and subsequently it suddenly stalls, the ignition switch has failed while in the “on” position. The switch is necessary to provide power to the fuel pump and ignition system. When the key is rotated to the “start” position, the vehicle is allowed to start. When you release the key from the “start” position (i.e. to the “on” position) the power to the ignition and fuel systems is cut. These are a few problems that can be a sign of an underlying ignition issue. Our professional locksmiths will determine if a faulty ignition switch is, in fact, present and if the ignition requires repair or replacement.
